Session 1: Who Were the Real Powhatans?
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Students will take an indepth look into the Powhatan tribe of Virginia and learn about the native populations of American before the English settled. Students will learn about Pocahontas, her father and the relationship they had with the English.
Session 2: The Founding of Jamestown
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Students will learn why and how Jamestown was founded. They will learn about the voyage, setting up Jamestown, the first encounter with Native Americans and what it took to keep the settlement going. Students will learn about colonial trade and survival.
Session 3: Pocahontas, John Smith and John Rolfe
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Students will learn who John Smith was and his relationship with Pocahontas. They will compare and contrast the myth of the Pocahontas tale with her real story. Students will learn about her life in America and England.
