Session 1: Advertisements
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Students will describe how advertisements use persuasive writing to convince people to buy their items.
Students will define target market and describe how an advertisement targets a specific group.
Students will practice creating advertisements.
HOMEWORK:
Create a product and create a print ad to sell that product on poster board. Be ready to present your print ad to the group in the next session.
Sessions 2-10: Convince Me
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Students will present their advertisements to the class.
Students will identify where persuasive essay are used in our modern society and why.
Students will examine the Protecting Our Planet topic on PenPal Schools.
Students will complete lessons about the topic.
Students will write a paragraph to answer a writing prompt in each lesson.
Students will reply to different students from around the world that are participating in the same research project.
Students will complete a project at the end of their research showing different aspects of the topic they had learned about.
Sessions 11-13: Effective Persuasion
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
Students will review the importance of persuasive writing.
Students will examine the different components of an effective persuasive essay.
Students will explain the importance of using research to create an effective persuasive essay.
Students will construct an outline of their persuasive essay.
Students will write an effective persuasive essay.
