Session 1: Pre Reading Skills

LESSON OBJECTIVES: 

Students will learn to compare and contrast.

Students will discuss the differences between Durselys home and Hogwarts.

Enrichment Skills:

We will create a diagram to discuss the differences between the two places.

HOMEWORK

1) Reading - Read Chapters 1 - 6 and be ready for a class decision.

2) Art- Create your own flying car.

Session 2: Description and Note Taking

LESSON OBJECTIVES: 

Students will learn to describe in detailed information.

Enrichment Skills:

Students will learn how to take notes and to begin given detailed information on describing who Gregory Lockhart is.

HOMEWORK

1) Reading - Read Chapters 7 - 9 and be ready for a class decision

2) Writing - Describe a celebrity you find interesting and why: Create you own warning sign to warn other to not enter your room. do you think they are famous?

Session 3: Learn to Decode

LESSON OBJECTIVES: 

Students will learn to start using the information around the text to help them understanding meaning to words that unfamiliar to them.

Students will learn to use patterns to figure out words and decipher their separate sounds (pronunciation).

Enrichment Skills:

Students and teacher will make up words that could have similar meaning.

HOMEWORK

1) Reading - Read Chapters 10 - 12 and be ready for a class decision

2) Art - Create you own warning sign to warn other to not enter your room.

Session 4: Fiction vs Non Fiction

LESSON OBJECTIVES: 

Exploring fiction and non fiction students will discuss the differences between the who, and mention other fiction and non fiction books.

Enrichment Skills:

Students in class will talk about who they would want to duel and if that is possible to happen in today.

HOMEWORK

1) Reading - Read Chapters 11 - 13 and be ready for a class decision

2) Critical Thinking/Writing - Come up with your own potion and name it, what does it do?

Session 5: Evidence and Prediction

LESSON OBJECTIVES: 

Students will learn to pick evidence and show who do they believe is in the Chamber of Secrets.

Enrichment Skills:

Students will begin to discuss what kind of creature we would create or place in the Chamber of Secrets.

HOMEWORK

1) Reading - Read Chapters 16 - 18 and be ready for a class decision

2) Critical Thinking/Writing - Students will begin a diary (we will carry this on through the following weeks)

 

Session 6: Sequencing

LESSON OBJECTIVES: 

Wizards will learn to sequence, time line when and what happened at what time.

Enrichment Skills:

Wizards will discuss a time line of what happened in the book, we will also talk about what we would give if we were to set Dobby FREE!
